Over the years, Treasury has focused on skills development and Youth Development through its Nedbank Essay Writing competition, bursary applications, the Chartered Accountants Academy and the Premier’s Advancement of Youth (PAY) Project.

A bit of history

Two years ago, Minister Meyer met with Media24 executives to discuss their WeCan24 platform that was created as a news platform for school newspapers and focused on providing online media and journalism training.  Minister Meyer then suggested that Media24 and the PAY Project combine efforts to give PAY interns exposure to the writing skills, online media and photography training offered by Media24.

Premier Zille who signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Media24 said that to get to the truth is one of the most complex things a journalist must do. “It is because the truth is so complex that different people will have their own version of the truth” said Zille.

Of the 19 PAY interns involved in the programme, two is working within Treasury: Busani Dlamini and Keenan Zimmerie.

Please keep a look out for some of the articles Busani and Keenan will be writing here, on our own Treasury Connect platform.
