The Western Cape Provincial Treasury hosted the annual 2017 Provincial Economic Review and Outlook (PERO) and Municipal Economic Review and Outlook (MERO) Seminar on 5 September 2017.
The 2017 PERO provides an objective review and analysis of the Western Cape’s past, current and estimated future economic developments across sectors and districts, labour market trends and the socio-economic reality.
The 2017 MERO provides a comprehensive overview of the recent economic performance and outlook of the Western Cape at a regional level. These forms of economic intelligence therefore touch on key economic policy areas.
Preliminary findings of the PERO and MERO was presented at the seminar to shed light on the latest economic trends from a global, national, provincial and municipal perspective. The purpose of this seminar was to solicit valued feedback from stakeholders and provided an opportunity for active engagement with the Bureau for Economic Research, the Development Policy Research Unit, Urban-Econ and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism on the latest economic and socio–economic trends.
