Exercise, according to the google dictionary is known as an “activity requiring physical effort, carried out to sustain or improve health and fitness”. It is also known that exercise can increase endorphins which boost energy levels and improve mental and physical health and well-being.

Exercise can however also have the following, less known, benefits:

Boosts your memory:  As your fitness level increase, the hippocampus which is a part of the brain structure associated with learning and memory system, grows.

Enhances your creativity: Research by psychologists in the US has shown that a walk, whether it be on a treadmill or outdoors, can improve divergent thinking and also improve moods and decrease stress levels.

Exercise during working hours: It is beneficial to let workers exercise during working hours because employees are able to manage their time more effectively, increase productivity and interaction with their colleagues.

Nonzwakazi George, the WoW! coordinator says that she exercises for thirty minutes during her lunch break. “I feel more refreshed and energized once I get back to my desk” says Nonzwakazi. She also says that it has improved her home lifestyle because she is no longer tired when she arrives home and can do more.  “Without physical activity, I used to get tired very quickly. Now, I feel energised after a quick workout during lunch” says Nonzwakazi.

If you want to benefit from a healthy lifestyle, then let’s get physical because together we can make sure that we stay energetic and vibrant because we are better together. To join the WoW! Club, contact Nonzwakazi on x9910 or
