Treasury cares about the health and wellbeing of employees and therefore hosted a health and wellness day with qualified wellness experts discussing and analysing health related issues that are important to staff members.
People pulled up in numbers, all eager to establish their health status and to get guidance on what to eat and what not to eat.
Besides the obvious benefits of taking accountability for their own, staff were also motivated to participate by a 15 minute neck and shoulder massage. That was definitely all the motivation people needed to kickstart their new healthy lifestyle.
The key health issues that was focused on included:
- Body mass index
- Measuring of waist and linking it to your health
- Blood pressure
- Cholesterol level
- Glucose level
- HIV status and counselling.
Lucky Mazabelana said that the day focus was on the physical and emotional well-being of employees, promoting the personal health of employees as a top priority.
He also said that the success of Provincial Treasury depends heavily on the performance of its employees. The ability to function and perform at a consistently high level is dependent upon employee wellness.
He was extremely proud of the day overall and the attendance was excellent as colleagues have been coming in since morning. The day was awesome, everything went well although wellness screening was a bit slow but colleagues were patient.
With this in mind we would like to thank each and every employee for taking accountability for their health and wellness and making use of the opportunity to screen their health and wellness towards a better health, better living future.
